September 8, 2011, Fort Collins, Colo – Elbert/Lincoln and East Adams/Arapahoe County Farmers Unions, FUSA Insurance agents John Hickey (Limon) and Dan Weller (Strasburg), the Colorado Corn Growers and the Colorado Association of Wheat Growers are hosting a public information meeting to let farmers and ranchers know their obligations under the Oil Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) program.
The meeting will be September 22, 2011, at May Farms in Byers, Colorado, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:00 p.m.. The meeting is open to the public and presented as a public service. Names of attendees will not be collected. RSVP for dinner to 303.622.4717 or 719.775.2859.
Guest speakers Jim Martin, Jim Peterson and Jennifer Schuller, from the Region Eight EPA office, will review the steps farmers and ranchers need to take to comply with the updated program.
Operators and owners of farms and ranches who store more than 1,320 U.S. gallons of diesel fuel, gasoline, lube oil, hydraulic oil, or other oils or oil products are urged to attend. For operations that already have a SPCC plan in place, the meeting will provide information necessary to update and maintain existing plans.
