April 20, 2015: U.S. and Colorado Crop Condition Report

CROP PROGRESS AND CONDITION
WEEK ENDING APRIL 19, 2015

AGRICULTURAL SUMMARY: Soil moisture supplies increased slightly following widespread rain and snow covering most of the State during the last half of the week. Fieldwork continued at a reduced pace between precipitation events. Thunderstorms with strong winds, localized hail and a few tornados were observed in the northeastern part of the State. Calving and lambing progressed without notable concerns. Stored feed supplies were rated 2 percent very short, 7 percent short, 80 percent adequate, and 11 percent surplus. Sheep death loss was 65 percent average and 35 percent light. Cattle death loss was 1 percent heavy, 82 percent average, and 17 percent light.
