AGRICULTURAL SUMMARY: Fieldwork increased early last week as producers rallied ahead of a weekend storm in which an abundance of snow and rain were received statewide. This event replenished moisture supplies in localities that had experienced
prolonged dry conditions. Storm effects were generally positive with several instances of soil saturation. As of April 18, mountain snowpack statewide was 95 percent of average. The Southwest and San Luis Valley were 78 and 77 percent of average, respectively.
Stored feed supplies were rated 7 percent short, 76 percent adequate, and 17 percent surplus. Sheep death loss was 59 percent average and 41 percent light. Cattle death loss was 1 percent heavy, 77 percent average, and 22 percent light.
