Colorado Winter Wheat Crop Progress Report

Colorado winter wheat condition stayed about the same as last week with a slight improvement in the very poor increasing to poor, but a corresponding drop in good decreasing to fair. There was precipitation in much of the state last week.

Seventy seven percent of the Colorado crop is jointed, compared to 78 percent last year, and the five-year average of 87 percent. Fourteen percent of the crop is headed, compared to 8 percent last week, 5 percent last year, and the five-year average of 20 percent.

Total U.S. crop condition is significantly worse than this time last year. Winter wheat crop condition in Kansas is 22 percent very poor, Texas is 50 percent very poor, and Oklahoma is 42 percent very poor.
