COLORADO CROP PROGRESS – July 27, 2015

CROP PROGRESS AND CONDITION
WEEK ENDING JULY 26, 2015
AGRICULTURAL SUMMARY: Winter wheat harvested continued to advance rapidly as weather conditions allowed for nearly a week of days suitable for fieldwork, although afternoon thunderstorms slowed harvested in northeastern Weld County. Additionally,
monsoonal moisture has hampered hay harvest in some south-central counties. Reports indicated an abundant supply of low quality hay due to rain during the drying process. Hail damage was reported in some corn and sorghum fields in Kiowa County. Stored feed supplies were rated 1 percent very short, 1 percent short, 85 percent adequate, and 13 percent surplus. Sheep death loss was rated 63 percent average and 37 percent light. Cattle death loss was rated 1 percent heavy, 72 percent average, and 27 percent light.
