USDA Launches Trade Mitigation Programs

From farmers.gov

Are you a farmer or rancher whose commodities have been directly impacted by unjustified foreign retaliatory tariffs, resulting in the loss of traditional export markets?

As announced in July 2018, USDA will offer three programs to assist agricultural producers just like you.

  • The Market Facilitation Program will provide payments to eligible producers of corn, cotton, sorghum, soybeans, wheat, dairy, or hogs.
  • The Food Purchase and Distribution Program will purchase the unexpected surplus of affected commodities.
  • And the Trade Promotion Program will restore lost markets develop new export markets for our nation’s farm products.

This support will help you and other producers nationwide manage disrupted markets, deal with surplus commodities, and expand and develop new markets at home and abroad.

Read about the three new programs in the August 2018 USDA press release and the most recent USDA press release on September 4, 2018.
