Colorado Wheat Outlook Report – May 15, 2026

The 2026 Colorado Wheat crop has had to live through drought, freeze, mosaic, aphids, mites, and the Wheat Stem Sawfly. All of this to say, the state’s wheat crop is struggling.

According to the crop production report released by USDA NASS on May 12, Colorado’s 2026 winter wheat production is forecast to be 33. 6 million bushels. This would be a 52% decrease from the state’s ten-year average of 71 million bushels, and potentially the smallest crop the state has seen since 1965.
